OCEAN DAY 2011

This year, there will be 5 aerial art pieces. San Francisco kicked it off at Ocean Beach on May 19th with 560 kids taking part in the 18th Annual Kids Ocean Day Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup. The LA and San Diego events will take place June 2nd. Huntington Beach and Humboldt will be the week of June 6th. This year, the theme of the aerial art was:

The fish are talking

LOS ANGELES - "Kelp us!"

Over 5,500 students cleaned up Dockweiler State Beach on June 2nd.

Fish designed by Fatima Martinez, Camino Nuevo-Harvard Charter School. Message by Samuel Spence and Asa Cusick, Environmental Charter Middle School. Almost 1,000 students at Crown Point Shores in San Diego made a Mako Shark saying, "Coexist."

SAN FRANCISCO - "Turn the Tide"

560 Bay Area students at Ocean Beach on May 19th

HUMBOLDT - "Coexist"

On June 9th, 900 students cleaned the beach and removed invasive plants on the South Spit in Humboldt County.

ORANGE COUNTY - "Clean Seas Please!"

875 students and over 180 adults cleaned up Huntington State Beach on June 7th

SAN DIEGO - "Coexist"

Almost 1,000 students at Crown Point Shores in San Diego made a Mako Shark saying, "Coexist."
